Camping

The camping cadence of three times a year fits the schedule well but it also is designed to help new campers before pushing them. Two of the campouts are considered easy — at public camp grounds — whereas one is primitive camping and is more difficult.
Each family brings his own tent, food, and clothing for the Friday through Sunday camping.
How do we attend Mass?
By God's Providence we frequently have been able to have Mass at our camp site, even when primitive camping, but otherwise we'll come to Epiphany or a local parish.
While each campout is unique they tend to be characterized by fire, Rapinare Cantum (a stick wrestling game), hiking, Rosary, reflection, Mass on Sunday morning, and skill development.
Primitive Camping
When primitive camping: TSG 51 pre-positions water so that members don't have to hike two miles in with it.
Responsibility
The field makes effort visible. A boy sees quickly whether he is helping the group or leaning on it.
Brotherhood
Shared work, shared discomfort, and shared prayer create trust that does not need to be manufactured.
