Troop 51
The troop is ordered by rank, patrol, and role — not for the sake of formality, but because clear structure gives boys a ladder to climb and men a clear charge to lead.
Leadership
All adult leaders must meet the following requirements before serving in any capacity.
Boys 6–10 · Grades 1–5
The Junior Cadets are subdivided into patrols named after the Four Evangelists and our namesake, Saint George. Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John authored the Canonical Gospels — providing the accounts of the life of our Lord from His birth, ministry, death, and foretold resurrection. Their importance in our faith is immeasurable, and since it forms the basis for the Catholic faith, they will form the basis for our ranks on the journey towards the honor of Tribune. Our Junior Cadets will honor each of these men by carrying their name and historic symbol during the first four years with the Troops.
Boys 11–18 · Grades 6–12
The Senior Cadets are subdivided into patrols consisting of an equal mix of 6th–12th graders. Patrol names are chosen from Catholic saints or blesseds — for example, the Saint Sebastian Patrol.
Winged Man
Matthew the Evangelist is symbolized by a winged man, or angel.
Winged Lion
Mark the Evangelist is symbolized by a winged lion, a figure of courage and monarchy.
Winged Ox
Luke the Evangelist is symbolized by a winged ox or bull, a figure of sacrifice, service, and strength.
Eagle
John the Evangelist is symbolized by an eagle, which looks directly at the glory of God without hesitation.
Dragon
The dragon Saint George slew represents Satan and all the evil forces in this world. Each man is called to overcome them.
Dress Standards
Troop 51 uses two uniform classes. Each serves a distinct purpose and is worn at the appropriate time. Showing up in the right uniform is part of the discipline.
The primary uniform of TSG — a field uniform first. Worn at all meetings, outings, and Holy Mass. The Class B t-shirt is worn underneath. Cadets sew their own insignia and rank patches.
Worn At
The work uniform, reserved for activities where cadets are guaranteed to get extremely messy. The Class A field shirt is set aside; the TSG t-shirt is worn with Class A pants.
Worn At
The uniform worn most of the time — by boys and fathers alike. No shirt required. Three items carried on the person, always.
Rosary
The sine qua non — carried always, unseen, as a sign of Marian devotion
Knife
Pocket knife or belt scabbard; requires knife safety certification
Pen
Carried in the left breast pocket when in Class A
Parati Semper
All three uniforms share three items: a Rosary, a knife, and a pen. Together they make any cadet prepared — spiritually, practically, and intellectually — at all times.
No cadet is in full uniform without all three. The knife requires completion of Knife Safety before it may be carried. The Rosary need not match — cord rosaries are recommended for durability.

Required Equipment
Every cadet is required to have a Field Manual. It is not a uniform item, but it is how achievement courses are tracked — each module requires a Captain's or Lieutenant's sign-off recorded in the manual.
